“a brilliant selection...
...celebrates not just the walks, but the history, wildlife, pubs and teashops along the way. It's written with a real sense of fun, packed with both nice-to-know and need-to-know information.”

“a charming new book, packed with evocative photographs, showcasing the best canalside walks in Britain...
...To experience the life of a canal is to escape the world of airports and motorways and reconnect with a world in which nothing moves faster than a duck.”

“With its evocative photographs, ...'Cool Canals' is a stirring reminder of just how much more to canals there is than canals...
...Perhaps, in their paean to canals, these two wacky, counter-cultural women really have captured something of the Zeitgeist. Coolness isn't a fast car any more. It isn't a crowded cocktail bar. It certainly isn't a Caribbean beach, rubber-necking at celebrities. It is knowing when to slow down, take time out, commune with nature, savour pleasures too precious to be rushed. ”
Daily Telegraph 5 September 2009 (See whole feature here)
“...this original and imaginative introduction to Britain's canal network is packed with ideas for inspiring days out.”

Cool Canals is printed using 100% vegetable-based inks on Condat Silk FSC paper, produced from 100% Elemental Chlorine Free (EFC) pulp that is fully recyclable. It has a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification and is fully manufactured on one site by Condat in France, an ISO14001 accredited company. All FSC certified papers are produced by companies who support well-managed forestry schemes which in turn actively plant and replace trees that are cut down for pulp, typically planting more trees than are harvested. Butler Tanner & Dennis are also fully ISO14001 accredited and, by both printing and binding on one site, dramatically reduce their impact on the environment.
