Eco & EthicalWe care about the waterways environment We want to inspire visitors to keep using the waterways and help Britain's canals stay alive. At the same time, we never knowingly support any business or activity not in keeping with the community, culture and traditions that make our canals special. What about our green ethics? Because we care about the whole earth as well as the waterways, we 'think' green throughout every part of the process of making our guides: from using Ecotricity in our office and never driving if we can walk, to choosing eco award-winning UK printers. Our books All our books are printed on FSC paper using 100% vegetable-based inks, and are printed and bound in the UK by Butler Tanner & Dennis, Frome, Somerset Cool Canals is printed using 100% vegetable-based inks on Condat Silk FSC paper, produced from 100% Elemental Chlorine Free (EFC) pulp that is fully recyclable. It has a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification and is fully manufactured on one site by Condat in France, an ISO14001 accredited company. All FSC certified papers are produced by companies who support well-managed forestry schemes which in turn actively plant and replace trees that are cut down for pulp, typically planting more trees than are harvested. Butler Tanner and Dennis are also fully ISO14001 accredited and, by both printing and binding on one site, dramatically reduce their impact on the environment. |
Our guidebooks are packed full of ideas, colourful photos, and some of the best highlights we've found along the canals...
